1. Introduction

Platinum loaded on Vulcan XC-72 has proven to be the standard catalyst for many oxidation and reduction reactions in acidic and basic electrolytes and is an ideal candidate for process feasibility studies. However, this catalyst is unable to function due to carbon corrosion when operating for long periods of time under harsh conditions such as highly acidic media and high-potential cycling in electrochemical systems.

Platinum loaded on a highly durable carbon-supported catalyst is resistant to carbon corrosion and oxidation stable. The highly durable carbon-supported catalyst retains a small platinum crystallite size even on graphite surfaces, which contributes to the formation of a relatively high platinum surface area with excellent electrochemical properties.

The Accelerate® brand of electrocatalysts has been developed using innovative, patented technology to improve the performance and durability of PEM fuel cells.

Independent laboratory testing of our alloy catalysts has shown twice the performance and superior durability. Accelerate® brand electrocatalysts are now available as corrosion-resistant carbon carriers for automotive fuel cell applications.

High Durable Graphitic Carbon is a type of graphitized carbon that offers higher durability and corrosion resistance
