DiffuCarb™ E226c High Surface Area PtRu Black - Carbon Cloth Electrode for Water Electrolyzer is an efficient electrode designed for water electrolysis systems, suitable for proton exchange membrane (PEM), anion exchange membrane (AEM), and alkaline electrolyzers (ALK). This series of electrodes utilizes Fueiceel® high surface area platinum-ruthenium black as the catalyst, combined with highly conductive carbon cloth, significantly improving the efficiency of the water electrolysis process. By varying the type of carbon cloth and binder, the DiffuCarb™ E226c series can adapt to a variety of electrolyzer applications and operating conditions.

Key Features:

High Surface Area Platinum-Ruthenium Black Catalyst:

  • The electrode employs Fueiceel® high surface area platinum-ruthenium black (PtRu Black) as the primary catalytic material. This platinum-ruthenium black catalyst exhibits outstanding electrochemical activity, especially showing excellent performance in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) during water electrolysis. The high surface area of platinum-ruthenium black provides more active sites, significantly enhancing the efficiency of water electrolysis.

Raw Carbon Cloth Substrate:

  • The electrode series uses raw carbon cloth as the substrate, which has not undergone hydrophobic or microporous layer treatments. Although it lacks a hydrophobic protective layer, this material still provides good conductivity and gas diffusion properties, making it suitable for AEMFC and AFC applications while reducing costs.

Multiple Binder Options:

  • Depending on the type of binder used, the products are available in Nafion, Fumion, and PTFE (Teflon), adapting to different chemical media and operating environments. The binders enhance the stability of the catalyst layer and ensure the electrode's durability under harsh operating conditions.

Product Models:

DiffuCarb™ E226c(G) High Surface Area Platinum-Ruthenium Black - Carbon Cloth Electrode (General Type, Water Electrolyzer):

  • Substrate: Uses raw carbon cloth substrate, untreated for hydrophobicity.
  • Binder: Nafion is used as the binder, suitable for electrolyzers in acidic environments.
  • Application: This electrode features a general design, suitable for PEM, AEM, and ALK electrolyzers and their stacks, providing excellent performance across various operating conditions.

DiffuCarb™ E226c(A) High Surface Area Platinum-Ruthenium Black - Carbon Cloth Electrode (AEM Type, Water Electrolyzer):

  • Substrate: Uses raw carbon cloth substrate, untreated for hydrophobicity.
  • Binder: Fumion is used as the binder, specifically designed for alkaline electrolyzers, ensuring excellent stability and conductivity in alkaline media.
  • Application: Designed for AEM and ALK electrolyzers, enabling efficient electrolysis and long-term stability under alkaline conditions.

DiffuCarb™ E226c(T) High Surface Area Platinum-Ruthenium Black - Carbon Cloth Electrode (Hydrophobic Type, Water Electrolyzer):

  • Substrate: Uses hydrophobic carbon cloth, untreated with microporous layer treatment.
  • Binder: Teflon is used as the binder, ensuring good performance under high humidity and high-temperature conditions.
  • Application: Suitable for PEM, AEM, and ALK electrolyzers and their stacks, particularly effective under high-temperature conditions, providing excellent gas diffusion performance and electrolysis efficiency.

Performance Advantages:

  • Excellent Electrochemical Activity: The platinum-ruthenium black catalyst provides a large number of active sites for electrochemical reactions, significantly improving electrolysis efficiency.
  • Diverse Application Choices: The series offers three versions: general type, AEM-specific type, and hydrophobic type, ensuring optimal performance in various electrolyzer systems.
  • Outstanding Durability: The DiffuCarb™ E226c series electrodes exhibit excellent stability and durability in acidic, alkaline, and high-temperature environments, ensuring long-term efficient operation.
  • Broad Adaptability: This series of electrodes is widely applicable to various types of electrolyzers, including acidic, alkaline, and high-temperature electrolysis applications.

Application Fields:

  • PEM Electrolyzers (Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers)
  • AEM Electrolyzers (Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers)
  • ALK Electrolyzers (Alkaline Electrolyzers)
  • High-Temperature Electrolysis (suitable for high-temperature operating environments)

Conclusion:

The DiffuCarb™ E226c High Surface Area Platinum-Ruthenium Black - Carbon Cloth Electrode is a key component in water electrolysis technology, effectively improving the efficiency of electrochemical reactions and ensuring the longevity of electrolyzers. By providing various substrate and binder options, this series of electrodes can be widely applied in numerous electrolysis applications, making it an indispensable high-performance electrode solution in modern water electrolyzer technology.
