DiffuCarb™ Double-Sided Hydrophobic Microporous Layer Carbon Paper

DiffuCarb™ Double-Sided Hydrophobic Microporous Layer Carbon Paper is a specialized material mainly used as a gas diffusion layer (GDL) in fuel cells and electrochemical processes.

Double-sided hydrophobic microporous layer carbon paper is a carbon-based material with microporous layers coated on both sides and treated with hydrophobic agents. This carbon paper is typically made from carbon fibers, featuring high electrical conductivity and excellent mechanical strength. The double-sided microporous layer structure can effectively improve its performance in fuel cell applications.

Features of DiffuCarb™ Double-Sided Hydrophobic Microporous Layer Carbon Paper

Hydrophobicity

The double-sided hydrophobic treatment prevents water accumulation on the carbon paper surface and within the micropores, ensuring smooth transport of reactant gases (such as hydrogen and oxygen) while preventing water blockage of gas transport channels.

Double-Sided Microporous Layer Structure

The double-sided microporous layer structure improves gas diffusion efficiency, enabling more uniform gas distribution across the catalyst layer and enhancing overall cell performance.

High Electrical Conductivity

The carbon paper itself exhibits excellent electrical conductivity, enabling efficient current conduction and electron transport.

High Mechanical Strength

The carbon fiber structure provides excellent mechanical strength, allowing the carbon paper to withstand pressure variations during fuel cell operation.

Excellent Chemical Stability

Carbon paper demonstrates outstanding chemical stability in fuel cell operating environments and is resistant to chemical corrosion.

Applications of DiffuCarb™ Double-Sided Hydrophobic Microporous Layer Carbon Paper in Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers

Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC)

Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL)

As a GDL material, double-sided hydrophobic microporous layer carbon paper improves hydrogen and oxygen diffusion efficiency, optimizes water management, prevents water accumulation, and thereby enhances fuel cell efficiency and durability.

Electrode Support Material

Its high electrical conductivity and mechanical strength make it an ideal electrode support material, ensuring efficient current transport.

Electrolyzers (e.g., Hydrogen Production via Water Electrolysis)

Electrode Substrate Material

As an electrode substrate, carbon paper provides high electrical conductivity and hydrophobicity, improving electrolysis efficiency and preventing gas bubbles generated during electrolysis from accumulating on the electrode surface, thereby enhancing process stability and efficiency.

Gas Management

The double-sided hydrophobic properties facilitate the removal of hydrogen and oxygen gases, preventing gas accumulation and electrode blockage.

Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC)

Electrode Material

Under high-temperature operating conditions, the chemical stability and high electrical conductivity of carbon paper make it a suitable electrode material for SOFC applications, enabling long-term stable operation.

Other Electrochemical Devices

Supercapacitors and Batteries

The high electrical conductivity and mechanical strength of carbon paper also make it suitable for other electrochemical devices, such as supercapacitors and batteries, where it can serve as an electrode material to improve device performance.

Summary

DiffuCarb™ Double-Sided Hydrophobic Microporous Layer Carbon Paper has broad application prospects in fuel cells and electrolyzers due to its unique structure and excellent properties. It can significantly enhance the performance, stability, and durability of electrochemical devices, making it an important material for next-generation energy technologies.
