The GFH Hydrophilic Graphite Battery Felt series is a high-performance carbon material based on CeTech GF graphite felt, chemically activated to introduce abundant oxygen-containing functional groups. This significantly enhances hydrophilicity and wettability, making it ideal for use as electrodes in flow batteries, such as vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs).
As a flow battery electrode material, GFH battery felt not only provides excellent electronic conductivity and electrolyte contact area but also improves charge/discharge efficiency, capacity utilization, and cycle stability. Its outstanding tensile and interlaminar shear strength ensures that the electrode structure resists wrinkling or deformation during long-term cycling, guaranteeing reliable operation of the battery.
Flow Battery Electrode Design: Optimized for electrolyte wetting and electron conduction to enhance battery performance
Hydrophilic Activation: Improves wettability and ensures uniform electrolyte distribution within the felt
High Mechanical Strength: Prevents electrode deformation or wrinkling under compression and cycling
High BET Surface Area: Increases electrolyte contact area to boost battery capacity
Multiple Hydrophilicity Levels: H(W)/H(M)/H(S) options to meet different flow battery design requirements
Hydrophilicity Grades:
H(W) Weak: Minimal improvement in wettability, retains high conductivity
H(M) Medium (Standard): Complete liquid wetting, most commonly used
H(S) Strong: Full wetting with stronger hydrophilicity
Applications
Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs): Used as positive and negative electrodes to enhance charge/discharge efficiency
Other Flow Batteries: Such as zinc-bromine and iron-chromium systems, improving electrolyte utilization
Laboratory Electrochemical Reactors: Provides high surface area and excellent wettability for liquid-phase reactions
Usage Instructions
Install Electrode: Cut GFH battery felt to the required size and place in the electrode position, ensuring uniform compression (15–25%)
Pre-wetting: Pre-immerse in electrolyte before first use to accelerate wetting
Select Hydrophilicity Grade:
H(W): Suitable for applications requiring high conductivity and fast response
H(M)/H(S): Suitable for full liquid wetting and improved electrolyte utilization
Maintenance: Avoid dust or oil contamination; if needed, mild acid washing or electrochemical cycling can reactivate hydrophilicity
